James is CEO of Heta Architects, leading a talented team of architects, designers and thinkers who look beyond the physical to generate value for clients.
His experience has been gained over more than twenty years in architectural practice and project management, having worked on many award winning projects for leading design firms including Foster and Partners and Hassell, both in the UK and Australia. He has also managed and delivered over 70 projects as part of expansive programmes for university, health and infrastructure clients. This diverse experience provides him with an excellent understanding of commercial development and the needs of the client.
At HETA, James works closely with client teams to ensure that buildings don’t just look good but also do good; centred around people, lifestyle and wellbeing, and are designed to be sustainable, to stand the test of time.

Joon is an award winning Director and has 22 years experience in Architecture and Design at the international stage. He has worked for a number of the world’s leading design firms, most noticeably at Foster+Partners, Jean Nouvel, Renzo Piano and most recently, senior Vice President of Chang-Jo.
Joon has worked across many different sectors and always puts design first, his international reputation as a designer has allowed him to lead some prestigious global projects such as Virgin Galactic’s Spaceport project in New Mexico, planning to completion, Incheon International Airport Phase III, Samsung C&T R&D centre, Korea, Panama International Airport, Panama City, Standard Life’s HQ in London, Grand Intercontinental Hotel, Korea, Parnas Tower Luxury Collection, Korea – Hotel.
At Heta Joon leads the Design process at director level and also manages all international projects and clients, he brings his passion, flair and dedication to perfection to every one of our projects.

Daniel is a Digital Director with a broad range of experience gained over the past fifteen years across Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Real Estate. As a qualified project manager, he focuses on using his vision and hunger for digital data driven design to deliver complex projects. He has worked for a number of well known organisations of varying size and focus. Having previously grown his own consultancy, he has experience in aspects of business management, developing digital strategies, managing consultant teams and project delivery, with strong commercial and leadership skills.
In his previous role as Digital Director at Sheppard Robson he was responsible for a number of major projects delivering digital innovation for major clients such as, Westfield, Cambridge University Estates, Canary Wharf Group, Olympic Legacy project and Interserve.

Jon is a Creative Director with over twenty years experience in Architecture and Design. He has worked for a number of the world’s leading design firms. He has awareness of the complex requirements of delivering environmentally driven design for some of the world’s leading organisations such as Apple, Bloomberg and Imperial College. He is highly experienced with managing design teams and complex stakeholder engagement across commercial, education and cultural sectors. His expertise spans between creative design, client engagement and winning new work.
He was previously a Partner with Foster+Partners, delivering world class designs and technical delivery for a number of award winning projects, including the Stirling Prize winning new European Headquarters for Bloomberg in London, rated the world’s most sustainable office building. Other major projects for world leading clients include, Apple’s global flagship retail stores, Imperial College masterplan for Exhibition Road and the refurbishment and major new galleries for The Imperial War Museum, London.

Paul is an associate with ten years of experience in both small and large scale design practices. He has worked for several award winning architectural design studios across a range of sectors from concept to delivery. He is experienced at delivering projects with scale and complexity involving multiple stakeholders and innovative building technologies.
For six years at Rogers Stirk Harbour he was based in several international offices in London, Sydney and Monaco, working on major projects in each region. As senior architect based in Monaco he worked on the design & delivery of the prestigious One Monte Carlo project. His role involved site management and construction delivery, liaising between a high profile client and contractor teams to maintain the design vision and deliver quality.

Catherine is an Associate at Heta Architects specialising in Wellbeing Design. Her remit is to ensure wellbeing is prioritised from the inception of the design process in all Heta projects, with the aim to mitigate the affects our built environment can have on the health and wellbeing of users. Harnessing the principals of The WELLTM Building Standard and our own Heta Wellness Principles Catherine’s approach to wellbeing design supports the physical, emotional and spiritual balance of the people using the spaces we create, enabling them, their buildings and communities to thrive. Catherine communicates and manages our wellness offering and collaborates with clients to tailor their wellness design path.
Catherine has run her own Interior Design and Creative Consultancy Studio, driven by her belief in a holistic approach to design that places health, wellbeing and an eco-philosophy at the very centre of every design decision. Her work has included consultancy for Liquid Interiors, in Hong Kong, a healthy and sustainable design studio.

Ben is an associate at Heta architects and is an architect with over ten years’ experience in architecture and design. An RIBA qualified architect, he has worked on the design and development of several large London commercial projects. He has the knowledge and skills required to deliver projects with complex technical requirements, stringent heritage and planning issues and involving a diverse group of stakeholders.
Previously at Make architects for 10 years, Ben was Project Architect with responsibility for the design and development of 1 Leadenhall, a 36 storey, commercial tower in the City of London. He managed a design team, oversaw the client/contractor interface and worked with planners and heritage consultants. He was also part of the Make architects design team on 5 Broadgate, one of the largest ground scrapers in the City. As a package architect, he delivered all 3 roof levels and 2 basement levels from Stage 2 to completion, and on site, coordinated the structural and services in all areas of the project.

Richard is part of the Senior Management team supporting and developing Heta’s strategic global growth. He is focused on identifying and developing new areas of business growth, including expanding into new countries, markets and sectors, as well as identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships.
Richard is a proven business leader with significant experience in implementing growth strategies, developing commercial bids, contractual negotiations, and implementing delivery strategies on major projects. He has in-depth understanding and experience of working in the built environment and is commercially focused with a solid technical background.
Richard is a RIBA Chartered Architect with 20 years post-qualification experience and has worked with leading multi-disciplinary firms and small architectural practices in the UK, Europe and Asia. He has worked on projects at various work stages, including a 126,000m2 education campus in Qatar; a £75m International Exploration Centre for Shell in the Netherlands and an extensive refurbishment project in London.
Prior to joining Heta, Richard worked with a leading global provider of project design and delivery services to the AEC industry. Working alongside many of the world’s leading international architects, consultants and contractors has exposed him to best practice standards and given him a unique understanding of the challenges faced on projects and the solutions required to overcome them.

Nicholas is a Senior Project Architect with eleven years of experience at small, medium and large scale design lead practices. He has worked for several award winning international architectural design studios across a range of sectors & work stages. He is experienced at conceptualising early design & feasibility, running design focused teams and working collaboratively with other disciplines & architectural studios in delivering projects with a high degree of design refinement & complexity, engaging with multiple stakeholders to deliver quality projects with innovative design, integrated technologies and new construction techniques.
He worked for seven years at Foster + Partners, based at their international HQ in London, working on projects in Italy, UK, China and the UAE, including the BBC HQ Wales, Shanghai Bund International Finance centre & Riverside developments, Sheik Zayed National Museum, & Apple Campus, his role involved developing initial design concepts, coordinating and managing package teams through to tender, whilst regularly presenting to client and large stakeholder teams in the UAE & UK.
Nicholas then worked at Heatherwick Studio for four years in Senior Architect & Project Lead roles, working on Architectural and Design projects at a variety of scales around the world including Google’s HQ in Bay View California, working on site through Scheme and into Detail design & construction, collaborating with Bjarke Ingles Design teams in reviewing contractor & specialist sub-contractor details. He was also regularly engaged in related research design for Google’s ‘sidewalk labs’ on their ‘smart city Toronto’ project.
Before joining Heta he also worked for a year at Studio Egret West as project architect working with developers U+I and Argent on two major new masterplan, landscaping & plot development schemes in the UK.
Since joining Heta this year he has been leading a number of innovation projects for multigenerational living & mixed used projects in central London as well as an international Library competition.

Alvaro Morcillo Buj
Alvaro is a Senior Architect at Heta Architects with seven years of post-graduate experience. He was an Associate Architect at Foster + Partners, where he joined in 2015 to work in large mixed uses and residential international projects in Malta and Dubai. Alvaro worked in the residential waterfront development leading part of the architectural design package and technical coordination for a 250+ residential units, hotel, and public areas in Manoel Island marina, Malta. He worked also as part of the team developing D3 Residential Quarter in Dubai, designated for uses that will foster the growth of design industries UAE providing individuals, entrepreneurs and business a focus for the region’s creative community.
Alvaro possess strong design skills as one of his core strength and has been key for in developing there concepts into detailed packages.
In 2013 he joined British firm Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands where he worked on residential and mixed-use projects in London involved in varies RIBA stages and diverse scale of projects: from a residential town-houses in South Kensington to a mixed-use masterplan with New Bond Street Station in Mayfair and a feasibility study for the Royal Park residential masterplan in North Acton.
At Farshid Moussavi Architects, Alvaro worked on the competition winning design for Jardin de la Lironde in Montpellier and 130 Fenchurch Street 17-storey mid-rise commercial Tower in London Central London.

Michal is a Senior Architect and Masterplanner with fourteen years of experience in Architecture and Urban design across a number of practices in Russia and Europe. His project portfolio includes completed buildings of differing scale across a number of key building sectors. He has worked on several prestigious projects that have been recognized by awards from WAF, RIBA, WAC and LAGI Copenhagen; ranging in scale from small architecture to large-scale masterplanning.
As a senior architect at Benoy, he led the design of various large scale masterplans, mixed-use and retail-led schemes in the Middle-East, Canada, Australia and Korea, including projects for Shinsegae in Cheongna, Anseong and Guwol.
As a key member of an Urban Analytics team he helped to develop analytical and data driven solutions for largescale urban design projects in developing regions, such as Tashkent, Riyadh Township & Misk City in KSA.
Previous to that, In 2015 Michal worked for Horizon Architects – a design practise focussed on projects within inner city, complex and dense urban settings, where he led a team on a major award-winning masterplan for central Moscow in Russia.
During his years of experience in masterplanning and urban design Michal has developed an understanding of the varied cultural and regional design codes across a number of regions to develop new innovations in urban design. Whilst evolving his design software expertise along the way to become an expert in BIM/ Revit workflows, environmental design tools and urban design with data analysis. Always curious to combine an innovative blend of new emerging technologies with traditional design techniques, his focus on environmental design has led to being an accredited LEED Green Associate.
