Heta Appointed on Grosvenor Project: Circular Economy Material Re-use in construction

Heta has been engaged on an exercise to investigate the best overall blend of routes available to bringing material re-use in buildings to market, with both high level comparative research and specific practical guidelines. The overall guiding concept of Buildings As Materials Banks: BAMB, has been pulled into its component stages, with each part from initial pre-demolition site survey to resultant harvested material classification and best re-use applications, looked at from initial first principal investigations to granular testable methodologies.

Project Details

  • Category: Architecture / Residential
  • Collaborators: Orms, ElliottWood, CIRCuIT, ROTOR, UK GBC and ARUP.

Take a moment to imagine how much easier things could be if buildings were designed to be disassembled: if all the elements were all tagged with readily accessible data, where the materials no longer needed for this building are simply removed and re-sold on a second-hand market.
